Arrosto’s, food is nothing like fussy, but prepared with attention to detail. It is pretty much like the type food I would cook at home. But when I don’t have time, I have the comfort and convenience of chicken and potatoes close to my home.

In fact, the potatoes roasted in chicken drippings is what makes me a loyal customer. And once you taste them, I have no doubt you will be coming back again and again.

They are the perfect blend of crispy and salty on the outside, soft in the middle, and enrobed in nutrient dense chicken fat. Perfect any season of the year, any day and any time of day.

Many cultures cook with chicken fat, Italian and French being popular ones, and what Arrosto is modeled after. Which makes sense, since Arrosto is part of Providore, a European style market (read about it here). It is part of The Ocean, a micro restaurant pod and hipster hangout, that we visit on the Vibrant Kerns Hood Food Tour.

Being Jewish, their food brings back memories of my parents speaking Yiddish (so I would not know what they were saying) and using schmaltz (rendered chicken fat) to make everything taste more delicious.

Arrosto has unlocked the key to the comfort food.  They do one thing, chicken and potatoes.  And do it so, so, so well.  That they will forever have customers arriving at their pick up window, in search of the quick, easy and super yummy, perfect weeknight dinner.
